Rossford's Mikonowicz making good on her Toledo women's basketball career

Tricia Cullop kept looking at The Blade sports section during the winter of 2020 and seeing a familiar name.

The same player, night after night, game after game, was piling up video game numbers at area high school gymnasiums. In the first game at Rossford’s new gym, she scored 42 points. She had seventeen rebounds in a game — twice. She had a virtuoso performance in the district final — 29 points and 11 rebounds — as Rossford became the first team from Ohio to beat Rogers in three seasons.

Her name is Sammi Mikonowicz, and she’s now a starter for the Mid-American Conference’s best team.
