TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo women's tennis team closed out its home opening weekend at Twos Athletic Club Sunday morning with a 5-2 victory over UIC. The victory makes the Rockets 3-1 in dual matches this season, including 2-0 at home.
UIC swept the doubles point thanks to victories on the No. 3 and No. 1 courts. Sophomores Shalini Tallamraju and Julia Kuszynski were ahead 5-4 No. 2 court when play was ruled unfinished.
The Rockets came back with vengeance in the singles competition, winning five of six matchups. Tallamraju and seniors and all won their matches on the lower courts in two sets to put the Rockets ahead in the match.
