Rockets Sweep Duquesne in Doubles, Splits Singles with Oakland

Toledo, Ohio – The University of Toledo women's tennis team wrapped up play at the Rocket Invitational on Saturday.

Play opened with singles matches that had been in progress and delayed by Friday's evening rain. Senior Kokoro Chishaki, the only UT player whose match had been delayed, bagged a win against Duquesne's Aishwarya Kona 6-4, 7-5.

Scheduled play resumed with doubles, where the Midnight Blue and Gold faced Duquesne and Youngstown State. The Rockets swept Duquesne in doubles where Chishaki/freshman Kiersten Carlson defeated Maranda Sears/Margot Pessy 6-3, the senior/junior duo Thalita Rodrigues/Dee Dee Lennabanchong downed Priyanka Mitta/Meredith Lee 6-0, and senior Claire Aleck/freshman Christina Fuller edged Maddy Adams/Miranda Bishard 7-5.
