ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Toledo juniors Cassie Alcala and Shalini Tallamraju advanced in the singles main draw of the ITA Midwest Regional Championship with individual wins on Friday afternoon. Toledo combined for a 4-2 record after a day of singles and doubles competition.
"I am so proud of the way my team represents Toledo," head coach Tracy Mauntler said. "They battled and competed like crazy today. This team works really hard, and it paid off today."
Tallamraju and senior Mariona Perez opened the day with doubles competition matches against Michigan State's Issey Purser and Marley Lambert, and came out with a huge victory by an 8-4 margin.
