Rockets shorthanded as they prepare to take on Xavier in NIT

The University of Toledo men’s basketball team is glad to be in the Postseason NIT after a disappointing loss in the Mid-American Conference tournament quarterfinal.

But when the Rockets travel to Xavier on Wednesday for a first-round matchup, they will take on the Musketeers shorthanded.

Junior forward Willie Jackson suffered a concussion in warm-ups against Northern Illinois and missed most of the game. He is in the concussion protocol. In the final seconds of the quarterfinal matchup, Marreon Jackson suffered a torn labrum that will require surgery and sideline him for about four months.

Making matters worse is that Dylan Alderson, who likely would have seen increased playing time with the Jackson duo out, badly sprained his ankle getting extra work on the court over the weekend.
