Just before lunchtime on Monday at Savage Arena, the Toledo men’s basketball team was finishing up their 76-76 drill, simulating the final minutes of a game.
The starting five of Ryan Rollins, J.T. Shumate, Setric Millner, Jr., RayJ Dennis, and Ra’Heim Moss elicited a mixture of emotions — excitement after a 3-pointer and a dunk, irritation at a foul call, and annoyance after giving up a bucket.
What head coach Tod Kowalczyk liked about practice was player engagement. The past 72 hours were not easy for the Rockets.
“Friday, Saturday, Sunday, guys were devastated. Coaches were devastated,” Kowalczyk said.
