Rockets Fail to Overcome Early Deficit in 9-2 Loss to Northeastern

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Toledo fell behind in the second inning and was unable to battle back from the early deficit in a 9-2 loss to Northeastern on Wednesday morning.

The Rockets (1-12) sent freshman Austin Calopietro to the mound for his first career start. Calopietro worked a perfect opening inning before allowing four runs in the second. The first run scored on an error which was followed by a three-run home run to right field.

Calopietro worked a scoreless third inning before giving way to sophomore left-hander Alex Wagner. Wagner cruised through the fourth, fifth and sixth inning, but found trouble in the seventh.
