JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Toledo baseball team completed its opening weekend with a 9-7 loss at East Tennessee State on Sunday.
The Rockets led 7-4 heading into the bottom of the ninth, but the Buccaneers scored five runs to cap a stunning comeback. ETSU's Kyle Richardson hit a three-run, walk-off home run to end the game.
"My heart goes out to this team," head coach Rob Reinstetle said. "They came ready to play today and did everything the coaching staff asked of them. We swung the bats like we are capable of and the pitchers did a great job of throwing strikes.
