TOLEDO, Ohio – University of Toledo senior Petronela Simiuc earned Mid-American Conference Distinguished Scholar-Athlete recognition the league announced on Friday. Simiuc is one of eight women's cross country athletes to earn the honor for the fall.
Simiuc posted a 6K personal-best on the season with a time of 21:19.2 at the Under Armor Pre-National Invitational on Oct. 19. The Bacau, Romania native rounded out the top five at the MAC Championship meet, stopping the clock at 21:59.8 on Nov. 2. She closed out the season with a time of 21:39.3 to take 56th overall at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Nov.
