Peters a 'calming force' for Toledo offense

On Wednesday night, University of Toledo quarterback Eli Peters stepped up to the team room podium and had to clear his throat before meeting virtually with local media over Zoom.

“Sorry if my voice is a little lost,” Peters said. “I was out there yelling all night, excited.”

The Florida native had good reason to lose his voice as the Rockets trounced Bowling Green 38-3 in their Mid-American Conference season opener. The win not only helped avenge last year’s 20-7 loss in the Battle of I-75, but it also was the first look at Peters as Toledo’s starter after an offseason position battle between himself, Carter Bradley, and Dequan Finn.
