Now in spotlight, Bowsher's Mitchell making big plays for Toledo

University of Toledo junior wide receiver Bryce Mitchell has always been a talented athlete.

A football and basketball standout at Bowsher High School, Mitchell joined the track and field team as a senior and won a state title by jumping 24 feet, 3 inches in the long jump.

But at Toledo, he has had to wait his turn to step into the spotlight after playing behind talented receivers like Cody Thompson, Diontae Johnson, and Jon'Vea Johnson at the receiver position.

“He's always been a talented guy,” Toledo coach Jason Candle said. “I'm not saying he doesn't handle his stuff or he's not ready for the moment, he just had some really good players in front of him.
