When the University of Toledo’s game against Bowling Green State University kicked off last Wednesday, the Rockets were already without their projected starting left tackle, Mitchell Berg, who had shoulder surgery and will be out for the year.
But early in the second quarter, the Rockets’ starting right tackle, Lavel Dumont, suffered a leg injury and had to be carted off the field.
“He’ll be out for a while,” head coach Jason Candle said at his weekly press conference on Sunday. “I don’t see him coming back and playing this fall.”
The 6-4, 295-pound Dumont redshirted last season as a true freshman and was in a position battle for the starting right tackle job this offseason.
