ALLIANCE, Ohio — Tucked into the northeast corner of football-crazed Stark County is the hamlet of Alliance.
On the south end of town sits the University of Mount Union and Kehres Stadium, a humble, no-frills venue that reflects the man it’s named after and the town it calls home, where the heartbeat is pigskin.
Larry Kehres came to Mount Union in 1974 as a 24-year-old offensive coordinator and never left, retiring in 2012 after 27 seasons as head coach, with 332 wins and 11 national championships, transforming the city and university into a living, breathing football lab.
