Toledo, Ohio— For the third time this season, junior libero Maurissa Leonard was named Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week in the West Division. The league office announced the newest batch of award winners on Monday.
Leonard has been a tremendous asset for the Rockets all season long on the defensive end, and her great play continued this past weekend. In matches against Miami and Bowling Green, the two top teams in the MAC standings, she averaged a whopping 8.86 digs per set and tallied 62 total digs. Both of those totals are season-highs for a weekend series for the Oregon, Ohio native.
