The University of Toledo women’s rowing team is hosting the Glass City Regatta on the Maumee River in downtown Toledo on Saturday.

UT will participate in events beginning at 9:20 a.m. It’s the first of nine scheduled events in the inaugural Toledo women’s rowing season.

To help get UT sports fans ready, here is a brief glossary of rowing terms, according to United States Rowing.

Bow: The rower closest to the front of the boat.

Coxswain: The person in the boat responsible for steering, motivating the crew, and race strategy.

Engine room: The middle rowers in the boat.
