Toledo, Ohio - The Toledo softball team (8-16) dropped its dual home- and conference-opener to Kent State (8-15) today, falling 6-1 through seven innings. The Rockets were out hit 10-4 and left 11 runners stranded in the first game of the Mid-American Conference season.
How it happened:
- The Golden Flashes opened the top of the first with a double-triple combo that brought in the first run. A sac fly on the next batter then scored the second and foreshadowed the type of game that was to come.
- Toledo tried to answer in the bottom of the frame off a single from senior Kaitlyn Bergman and walk from sophomore Ami Ill that put two on but the chance was negated as three batters went down.
