CLEVELAND, Ohio – Toledo junior Karina James was named the Mid-American Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday morning. This is the first career MAC runner of the week award for James.
James led the Toledo women's cross country team to a first-place finish at the Mel Brodt Collegiate Open race on Friday, Sept. 12 in Bowling Green, Ohio. The Lowell, Ind. native won the individual championship in her first race action of the season, recording a career-best 6K time of 21:09.3.
The top five finishers for the Rockets all placed within the top-10 while all nine runners were within the top-20.
