Toledo fans, enjoy the sun, ocean views, and mountain vistas in Southern California this week, because you probably won’t be seeing them anytime soon.
The Rockets’ trip to San Diego State is one of the best matchups of Group of Five teams this season, and it’s an enjoyable definition for fans. Outside of that, though, the series does little for UT.
Neither the football program nor the university recruits the state of California. Cross-country travel is a grind, even on a chartered aircraft. And this season’s game is sandwiched between a night game at Ohio State and conference games against Central Michigan and Northern Illinois.
