Former UT football coach Chuck Stobart dies at 90

Former Toledo head football coach Chuck Stobart died this week at the age of 90.

The 2012 Varsity T Hall of Fame inductee coached Toledo from 1977-81, compiling a record of 25-30-1.

Stobart led the Rockets to a 9-3 record and a Mid-American Conference championship in 1981. His final game as head coach was a 27-25 victory over San Jose State in the California Bowl, featuring a last-second game-winning field goal by Tony Lee.

Stobart won MAC coach of the year honors in 1979 and 1981. The former Ohio University quarterback left UT for the head coaching job at Utah.
