Eli Peters gets start at quarterback for Toledo

University of Toledo quarterback Eli Peters said last week that he thrives on pressure, and he proved it by winning the starting job.

Peters, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound senior started Toledo’s game against Bowling Green on Wednesday night. The team made no prior announcement, and as of last week, he was still battling it out with Carter Bradley and Dequan Finn.

“Pressure is in the quarterback's job description,” Peters said last week. “At any level of the game we're the most scrutinized position in all of sports in my opinion. The quarterback has to be able to handle the pressure.
