Former University of Toledo and Central Catholic safety Braden Awls will continue his football career at Iowa State.
The Sylvania native announced his commitment on social media Tuesday after entering the transfer portal Jan. 2.
Awls follows coach Ross Watson, who previously served 10 seasons as co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach for the Rockets. Watson was hired by new Cyclones head coach Jimmy Rogers on Dec 31.
Awls had a breakout 2025 season at Toledo, where he recorded career highs in tackles (52), tackles for loss (6.5), and interceptions (5). Additionally, Awls had four pass breakups and a forced fumble.
