TOLEDO, Ohio - Senior left-handed pitcher Steven Calhoun threw 8.0 scoreless innings to lead Toledo to a 1-0 win over Western Michigan in the first game of its Mid-American Conference series at Mercy Field.
The Rockets (7-19, 1-3 MAC) scored the lone run of the game on a solo home run by junior Matt Hansen to lead off the fourth inning.
Western Michigan (12-10, 2-2 MAC) and Toledo notched only four hits each as Calhoun and WMU starter Jacob Piechota stymied hitters all afternoon.
UT's first hit came on a one-out single by sophomore Riley Campbell.
