The disappointing last chapter aside, the Rockets this season scaled great heights, winning 11 straight games and climbing to 23rd in the AP poll — a ranking surpassed by only two UT teams (1997 and 2015) in the past half-century — and the doorstep of the Fiesta Bowl. With a victory over Wyoming in the Arizona Bowl, they can match their 12-0 predecessors in 1970 and ’71 for the most wins in school history.
