More and more, it appears a Toledo football season we’ve spent three months trying to decode may be heading for the only conclusion that makes sense: one that doesn’t.

If Toledo (7-4, 5-2) wins Saturday at Central Michigan — and the favorites prevail elsewhere — the Rockets will finish in a three-way tie with Miami and Ohio for second-place in the Mid-American Conference.

Miami.

Yep, the RedHawks team that Toledo just pounded in Oxford, and Ohio handled, too.

It almost feels like cosmic mischief.
