Briggs: Saban wins because he 'cheats'? Tell that to his former Toledo players

It was the nuclear football quarrel we didn’t know we needed, with Nick Saban openly branding Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher a cheater, then Fisher all but firing back, “I know you are, but what am I?”

And it came replete with an invitation.

“Some people think they’re God,” Fisher said. “Go dig into how ‘God’ did his deal. ... Go dig into his past.”

Oh?

In that case, consider this our RSVP.

Gumshoes on and shovel in hand, I set out this week to answer the great non-question of our time: Could it be that — as suggested by Fisher and stated explicity by one prominent writer — Saban is great only because he’s above the rules?
