Briggs: After uneven opener, let's reserve judgment on rebuilt Toledo offense

As first impressions go, the Toledo football team early Thursday was like the guy who shows up 20 minutes late to a job interview wearing a ripped, mustard-stained T-shirt, and tells the boss, “You don’t look bad for your age.”

Then ... the Rockets landed the gig.

I think.

Honestly, I’m not entirely sure what to make of Toledo’s season-opening 37-0 win over Long Island University before a patient crowd of 21,291 at the Glass Bowl.

Who can find fault in a victory by more than five touchdowns, right?

On second thought, judging by my inbox, it’s probably best not to ask.
