Emmanuel McNeil-Warren was always on the fast track.
Last Saturday, it was a literal description of the senior University of Toledo safety.
On the fifth defensive play, McNeil-Warren — who already had a fumble recovery on the second play — sat back in coverage and lulled Western Kentucky quarterback Maverick McIvor into thinking there were clear skies to wide receiver Matthew Henry.
Wrong.
McNeil-Warren jumped the route and cruised down the UT sideline, untouched, for a 37-yard pick-six.
“I was just trying to disguise the quarterback, just make it seem like we were in a different coverage,” he said.
