BOCA RATON, Fla. — Football is the ultimate game of connection and that’s no different in this year’s Boca Raton Bowl with both team’s head coaches having ties to Florida.
University of Toledo interim head coach Robert Weiner won four state championships in his 16-year tenure as head coach at Plant High School in Tampa and was an assistant coach at Tampa Jesuit High School from 1989-2003.
With 10-to-15 percent of National Football League players coming from the Sunshine State, according to the league, Weiner said the stakes were always high even at the high school level.
