TOLEDO, Ohio – Junior Barend Botha was named Mid-American Conference Men's Golfer of the Week by the league office on Thursday. It is the seventh time in his career he has received the weekly award.
A George, South Africa native, Botha continued his strong start to the season by tying for eighth place at nine-under par 207 to lead the Rockets at the VCU Shootout. The reigning Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Year, Botha opened the tournament with a four-under par 68 and followed it with a two-under par 70 and three-under par 69 to lower his season stroke average to 69.
