TOLEDO, Ohio – Senior Barend Botha was named Mid-American Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week by the league office on Wednesday.
Botha is a George, South Africa native who possesses a 3.714 grade-point average in marketing. He is a two-time Academic All-MAC honoree and was named to the CSC Academic All-District squad last season.
Toledo swept the MAC's Scholar-Athlete of the Week awards this week, with women's tennis player Cassie Alcala earning the award as well.
Botha won his second-straight MAC individual title in dominating fashion last Sunday with a 54-hole total of 11-under par 205 at The Club at Chatham Hills.
