Toledo, Ohio – Junior Athena Welsh was named Mid-American Women's Track Athlete of the Week for her performance in the 5000m at the Raleigh Relays on March 29.
Welsh clocked a time of 15:58.95 to take third in the 5K, breaking the UT record and becoming the first Rocket to surpass the 16-minute mark.
The Louisville, Ohio, native is currently ranked first in the MAC and 12th in the NCAA for the 5K.
