Toledo, Ohio – Junior Athena Welsh was named Mid-American Women's Track Athlete of the Week for her performance in the mile at the GVSU Open on Jan. 25.
Welsh clocked a time of 4:43.54 in the mile event, clinching first for the Rockets. Her performance helped UT take second at the GVSU Open with a score of 120.5.
The Louisville, Ohio, native is currently ranked second in the MAC and 35th in the NCAA in the mile.
The Rockets will be back in action at the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind. Friday, Feb.
