After losing its leading scorer to injury last week, the University of Toledo women’s basketball team has embraced a next woman up mentality.
Junior Cadence Dykstra got the start in place of Kendall Carruthers for the Rockets, and senior Patricia Anumgba scored a season-high 24 points shooting 71.4 percent in their 70-49 Mid-American Conference win over Northern Illinois on Wednesday.
“I think we all love each other so much on and off the court that we want to pick it up for each other,” Dykstra said. “It's definitely hard to not see them do what they love, but we just do it for them as best we can and play as hard as we can for them.
