You might be surprised to learn that basketball wasn't always AJ Edu's favorite sport. Like most kids growing up in Cyprus, the 6-foot-11 Toledo Rocket center loved playing soccer as a young boy before eventually shifting his focus to basketball, which was also popular on the Mediterranean island.
"I actually wanted to be a soccer player before I started growing taller," said AJ, who enrolled at UToledo in 2018. "I still watch soccer a lot, but I knew when I began to be bigger than other kids my age that basketball would be the better option for me.
