The University of Toledo earned a big 27-17 win over Northern Illinois at the Glass Bowl on Thursday night. Here are three takeaways from the game:
1) Toledo takes control of MAC West: With the win, Toledo moves to 5-0 in the conference and with three games remaining would likely have to lose two of its last three games. The Rockets still have road games at Ohio and Bowling Green before hosting Western Michigan in the regular season finale. Right now the Rockets are on track to make the MAC championship game.
2) Diontae Johnson emerging: Johnson, a sophomore receiver, had 10 catches for 166 yards, including an 89-yard reception when UT was pinned back at its 1-yard line.
