The 2024 season was a mixed bag.
A 4-4 Mid-American Conference record, blowout losses at home to Bowling Green and Ohio, and a discouraging loss at Akron to end the regular season were lowlights.
But two wins over power conference programs — a 41-17 disembowlment of Mississippi State and an epic six-overtime bowl win over Pittsburgh — gave the year a positive outlook.
The Rockets lost another high draft pick (Darius Alexander), but sending players to the NFL hasn't held them back. The expectations are as high as ever, thanks to past recruiting successes, a ballyhooed transfer class, and the return of several talented starters on both sides of the ball.
