The mystique and attention-grabbing Masked Rider takes the cake when it comes to Texas Tech traditions.

Tortillas have become a staple at Texas Tech, but as for official traditions, the Masked Rider pregame entrance and run-out is one that captivates not only home fans, but visitors.

The Goin’ Band from Raiderland belches out the Texas Tech fanfare followed by the fight song as the black horse and masked rider gallop across the field with Kliff Kingsbury and his team following suit.

The Masked Rider tradition dates back to 1936, but became official in 1954. The Texas Tech Masked Rider Committee crowns every new Masked Rider.
