Texas Tech’s 1964 Sun Bowl vs Georgia was a low scoring dud for the Red Raiders

The Texas Tech Red Raiders had a pretty solid offense back in 1964, according to the folks documenting the history of the Sun Bowl. At least that was true for the time, that is. Back during that 1964 season, Texas Tech was apparently producing nearly 300 total yards of offense per game. And that was apparently good enough to produce the No. 1 offense in the Southwest Conference.

Nowadays, that offense wouldn’t be that great. Back then though? Phenomenal stuff. It’s pretty crazy how the game has changed a bit over time.

It’s also absolutely crazy how, despite having a truly potent offense (relative to the time and era and all that jazz), Texas Tech was unable to score a single point against the Georgia Bulldogs when the two teams met up in the Sun Bowl.
