Texas Tech’s not going to face Texas A&M anytime soon during football’s regular season. The Red Raiders’ best chance to renew the rivalry will be on Sunday’s bowl selection day, which is possible but not necessarily probable.
Southeastern Conference officials decide which of their teams to send to six of the bowls with whom they have contracts, a factor that stands in the way of a first Tech-A&M game in four years.
“It’d be an exciting matchup, wouldn’t it, for our fan base and within the state?” Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt said Thursday. “But what that matchup will be, I guess I’ll wait until Sunday afternoon to hear for sure.
