Texas Tech running back Da'Leon Ward arrested, charged with theft

Texas Tech running back Da'Leon Ward became the fifth Red Raider to be arrested in the offseason.

According to online records, Ward was booked at the Lubbock County Sheriff's office at 2:35 p.m. on Tuesday. He was charged with theft between $2,500-$30,000, first reported by the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.

Ward is in line to be the starting running back for Texas Tech in 2018. If Ward isn't available for the Red Raiders' season opener against Ole Miss, junior Tre King will likely step into the starting role.

Earlier in the offseason, four Red Raiders, including quarterback Jett Duffey, were arrested in March.
