Texas Tech hires La. Tech’s Karl Scott to coach corner backs

Texas Tech football has hired Karl Scott to be its new corner backs coach. Scott spent the past three seasons in the same role at Louisiana Tech University.

The newest addition to the Texas Tech coaching staff played college football at McMurray University in Abilene, Texas and began his coaching career at Hardin Simmons in Abilene after his playing career ended. Prior to joining Skip Holtz’ staff at Louisiana Tech, Scott spent three years on the defensive staff of Southeastern Louisiana where he would be elevated to defensive coordinator in 2014.

According to Scott’s official biography page on Louisiana Tech’s website, “In his first season at the helm of the Southeastern defense, the Lions repeated as Southland Conference champions, made their second trip to the NCAA playoffs and finished ranked 12th and 14th, respectively, in the final FCS Coaches and Sports Network national polls.
