Texas Tech football: Players that need to step up vs. Arizona

When the Texas Tech football team faces Arizona tonight, two former conference rivals will be reunited for the first time in over a quarter of a century. No, Arizona was never in the old Southwest Conference but it was a member of the now-defunct Border Conference along with Texas Tech.

Founded in 1931, the Border Conference originally featured Arizona, Arizona State, Northern Arizona, New Mexico, and New Mexico State. Tech joined the conference in 1932 while UTEP was added in 1935 and West Texas A&M and Hardin Simmons came on board in 1941.

The Red Raiders won the most Border Conference titles of all-time with seven.
