There’s no denying that the Texas Tech football program is headed in the wrong direction. Having failed to post a winning record in conference play since 2009, the Red Raiders are no longer among the top programs in the Big 12 as they were a decade ago.
For proof, we must look no further than the preseason expectations most have for the Red Raiders these days. In the Big 12 preseason poll, Tech has been picked to finish no higher than sixth since the conference went to its current round-robin format in 2011.
What’s more, in four of those seasons Tech has been in the bottom three in the annual preseason media poll.
