With the hiring of Kerry Cooks to coach safeties, new Texas Tech football head coach Matt Wells has completed his coaching staff. Of the eleven assistants he has hired (including new strength and conditioning coach Dave Scholz) eight were part of the Utah State staff in 2018.
It will be interesting to see whether or not the continuity within the staff will pay off by helping the team have a more seamless transition in Wells first year. But there is no doubt that it is a far cry from the type of staff that Kliff Kingsbury assembled when he was hired in December of 2012.
