The Arizona Wildcats and the Texas Tech football program have both struggled in recent years on the defensive side of the ball. But while the Red Raiders seem to be off to a more encouraging start on defense this year, the same scenario is not unfolding in Tucson.
Just two games into the season, fans and the Arizona media are already questioning the competence of Wildcat defensive coordinator Marcel Yates. Now in his fourth year with Arizona, Yates was retained during the transition from Rich Rodriguez to Kevin Sumlin in the hopes that continuity would be the missing ingredient for his defense.
