Texas Tech falls to West Virginia 9-4

OKLAHOMA CITY — After a hot start at the plate to the Big 12 Championship, the Texas Tech bats were held in check by West Virginia.

Overall, the Red Raiders were held to six hits Thursday afternoon in their 9-4 loss to the Mountaineers at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City.

For the second-straight game, the West Virginia starting pitcher had to make an early exit due to injury.

Wednesday morning, Michael Grove landed awkwardly on his knee while attempting to make an out on a sacrifice bunt play at first base, requiring him to leave the game.
