Wednesday was a very good day for Texas Tech on the recruiting trail. On the first day that junior college players could sign official letters of intent, two highly touted wide receivers officially signed to play for Texas Tech in 2016.
The biggest prize for Kliff Kingsbury’s team is 6-foot-3, 205-pound Derrick Willies from Trinity Valley Junior College. The 4-star prospect is the No. 1 rated junior college receiver in the country and fills a desperate need that Texas Tech has at outside receiver.
This season, Willies caught 49 passes for 1,155 yards (23.6 yards per catch) and 14 touchdowns.
