On Tuesday the Texas Tech football program received a verbal commitment from 2016 Odessa (TX) Permian H.S. defensive back Desmon Smith. As per usual in today’s modern age, Smith made his decision known via twitter.
According to Rivals.com, Smith is a 6-foot-3, 191-pound 3-star prospect with an impressive list of scholarship offers. Aside from Texas Tech, Smith was offered scholarships to Houston, Minnesota, Colorado State and Air Force as well as at least 13 other schools.
But in the end, Smith felt like Texas Tech was the place for him. The lanky corner back was in Lubbock this past Saturday to watch Texas Tech defeat Kansas State and that seemed to help him make his final decision.
