The Texas Tech football team secured its third commitment in the month of July.
Texarkana Pleasant Grove outside linebacker Xavier Benson verbally pledged Monday to play for the Red Raiders.
Benson, a 6-foot-3, 200-pounder, is rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports. He held 22 total offers and paired down the list to Arkansas State, SMU and Texas Tech back on July 16.
As a junior, Benson recorded 98 tackles, eight for loss, five sacks, recovered three fumbles and caused four fumbles. He also notched two interceptions and returned a fumble 99 yards for a touchdown.
