Talking points: Oklahoma State 45, Texas Tech 44

The hold or the kick?

Cameron Batson had the hold down.

But a fraction of a second before Clayton Hatfield’s foot struck the football, Batson let the ball drift to the right.

So, the kick sailed wide right and the Red Raiders failed to convert the extra point attempt, losing 45-44 to Oklahoma State at Boone Pickens Stadium on Saturday.

Hatfield had kicked the game-winning field goal against TCU two weeks earlier.

That’s why Kingsbury didn’t consider going to the two-point conversion and the win.

“We had the momentum,” he said. “I liked what we were doing offensively and I liked what we were doing defensively, so I felt great about it going into overtime.
